"I picked it up and threw my fortune into the recycle bin. / A slightly new path brings me back where I’ve been / Persistence of, persistence of, persistence of fate..."
The alt rock / funk punk free wheeling mind meld of "Difference Vs. Change" by Regina, Saskatchewan's Pop Pop Vernac, is so full of manic energy and swinging propulsive swagger that you can't help but swaying your hips (even a stick in the mud like me). What I am especially like which is expressed within the angular guitar attacks, rolling drums, space between the bombing bass lines and all things concerned, the funky break downs and shared vocal countenance that feels bold, wailing, gritty, is the blend here that feels like an amalgam of swaggery alt rock ala artists like Eagles of Death Metal, Fu Manchu and the twisted indie blues garage rock / grunge rawness of The Gories and Mudhoney. This genre mix is fucking artfully badass.
"Difference Vs. Change" exists on the bands current EP "A SENSE OF HUMAN"!

LINER NOTES (excerpted / bracketed):
[Difference Vs. Change reflects the frustration of being stuck in maladaptive behavioral patterns, where small changes fail to improve outcomes. An expression of the desire for a real transformation, capturing the quiet yearning for a deeper change.]
LYRICS
I picked it up and threw my fortune into the recycle bin. A slightly new path brings me back where I’ve been. Persistence of, persistence of, persistence of fate.
I gotta fix this somehow, I gotta fix this right now, before I eat my heart out, before I grind my own hopes down. Difference versus change. Difference versus change.
I threw my fortune into the recycle bin. A slightly new path brings me back where I’ve been. Persistence of, persistence of, persistence of fate.
You gotta swing batter batter and run from the plate, you gotta swing batter batter and run from the plate, you gotta swing batter batter and run from the plate, you gotta swing batter batter and run back to the same plate.
I gotta fix this somehow, I gotta fix this right now, before I eat my heart out, before I grind my own hopes down. Difference versus change. Difference versus change.
I’m gonna eat my heart out, I’m gonna grind my own hopes down. I’m gonna eat my heart out, I’m gonna grind my own hopes down.
Well, I, I need to fix this somehow, I need to fix this right now, before I eat my heart out, before I grind my own hopes down. Difference versus change. Difference versus change.
I gotta fix this somehow, I gotta fix this right now, before I eat my heart out, before I grind my own hopes down. Difference versus change. Difference versus change.

ABOUT:
[Four friends bonded in the summer of 2017 and formed Pop Pop Vernac. Reminiscent of the raw, frantic energy one might have felt playing in a rock band full of Jolt Cola back in high school, they are super catchy with an expressively loose and high impact sound. All four members write and sing, both lead and backing vocals. Their first year of playing out was all fundraisers; the group had raised money for Life By Life, Rainbow Youth Centre, and Autism Resource Centre, among others. They have toured the Canadian prairies, and played with Ancient Shapes, Wares, Whoop-Szo, Rats Ass, Look Vibrant, J Blisette,Miesha & the Spanks, Ten Foot Pole, and more. The band has released cassettes in 2017 and 2018, a compact disc in 2019, and they will be releasing a free digital visual album entitled Rapid Fire on March 5, 2021.]
