The alt country pop slither and steely stare of "Shame", by the ever mysterious alternative indie rock masked duo Bad Flamingo, feels appropriately smoky and defiant. Bathed in Bad Flamingo's signature sound the storytelling rides the rails between a sultry come on and a double fisted emotional punch and walk away from a toxic relationship. The complexities here encased in a super magnetic production of indie rock meets alt country meets purely alt pop framework is what makes this so very compelling. The feeling throughout feels like an emotional bloodletting before lighting the relationship house on fire and walking away, such a boss move.
I have written about Bad Flamingo 11 times since my first introduction to them in 2018 and I am happy making this a perfect dozen. To my ears, I think this feels like their most adult contemporary pop track to date, I mean, I could easily see this covered by a Chappell Roan or Miranda Lambert, in masks of course.
