"American Roomz / the servants collude / the prophets of doom / I shake in their heads / they're scratching their chins / they know where you've been / it's barely a sin / still there's no pledge trial in / this kangaroo court / how come you chose to be / electrified..."
The pulsating mysteries and alluring grandeur of "American Roomz", by England's Clock Radio, feel like a vast American western to me (I know, how presumptuous of me) taking place where horses roamed free while cars became the newest things and massive trains cut paths through virgin lands displacing indigenous peoples. Of, course, this magical song might, will, fill your head with entirely different images. It is that kind of song. Unmistakable but a wee bit unnerving in the best possible way.
Why? I think because the song runs at an amazing pace with drums and bass that dance so well together, they fucking swing, raucously full of abandon as guitars whirl and unearthly bits of entrancing sounds suggest unknown ambient things happening. All the while, pop noir surfy guitars add more layers of dreams as a perfect bed sprung framework for such a truly wonderful vocal countenance, dashed with awe, letting poetic, yet curious words tumble from his lips. There is such a sense of storytelling of stories unknown, so unknown that each line can be interpreted or spun like a bottle and I love that.

Deluded jangle rockers Clock Radio have produced a string of catchy slacker pop wonders. Easily triggered, dishonest, cryptic yet flirty, Clock Radio have reached inside the box.
"American Roomz" exists on Clock Radio's debut album ‘Turfin Out the Maniacs’ out now on Danish Goodtime Records. Hell, I'd quite like to have a Danish good time.
