"unequivocally tied to New York City post-punk"
Calgary post punk Port Juvee is on the move. Confirmed to play New Colossus in NYC, SXSW and Treefort Music Fest this Spring. All this news on the heals of the release of their album "Motion Control" (dropped on 2/28) via Garment District Records. The single Desert Moon Palace jams right out of the gate with shifting drum patterns, strident lead rhythmic lines, counter poised guitars and bass pushed further with shouty vox. It has heavy surf punk tones mixed with Beach Goth and a sort of hybrid 90's Brit neo punk feel as well. It is a lot to take in so you will just have to push play about a hundred times. Do that and you might, MIGHT, absorb all the goodness here.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Despite hailing from the landlocked city of Calgary, Canada, Port Juvee's sound feels unequivocally tied to New York City post-punk with a dash of coastal California surf. Maybe it has to do with the nondescript landscape of endless prairie land and suburban sprawl, but these Canadians have taken to Calgary's ebbing punk and art scene for solace.
The band made waves with their self-released 2016 debut, CRIMEWAVE, followed by performances at SXSW, CMW, Rifflandia and subsequent tours with contemporaries like DIIV, POND, Twin Peaks, Titus Andronicus and more.
MOTION CONTROL is the forthcoming follow-up to CRIMEWAVE and sees the band expanding their sound on a deeper level. They've teamed up with producer Justin Gerrish (Vampire Week's 'Contra' & 'Modern Vampires of the City') who happened to stumble across an early Port Juvee demo at a house party. He dug it so much he decided to connect with the band and invite them to his home-studio "Hook & Fade Studios" in Brooklyn, NY.
MOTION CONTROL sees the band addressing themes of communication and a subsequent breakdown in an age of endless technological advancement. The lead single, "Hope to Lose" tackles a flawed model of success thrust upon current generations by previous ones. "Desert Moon Palace" is an introspective surfy jam that reflects on life decisions and the never-ending search for more. "Tropics" sees the band experimenting with a softer, slow-burning approach and title track "Motion Control" is a futuristic odyssey fueled by anxious synths and cinematic stylings.
Port Juvee's sophomore LP MOTION CONTROL is out everywhere February 28th on Garment District Records.
