"mental chaos"
This One Goes To Those Who Never Had A Chance To Leave is a title full of questions by the Aussie / UK post rock fusion called The Paradise Riflebirds. The collective is based out of Cairns and Brisbane in Australia and London. Listen to the track with it's constant moving bass lines, shifting drum patterns that step in and out of the fray and proggy guitars. The entrancing vox by John Tulloch suggest danger and slow burn intrigue. Press notes reveal:
"The lyrics concern corruption and entrapment in the deep tropics of northern Australia, where one of us lives. It’s both cynical and empathetic but it poses the question: How beautiful can a place be if you can’t get out?"
The question seems more pressing during these trying times and I suppose we all hope that Governmental forces only suggest the best course of actions but we are still able to freely choose to take them or ignore them.
Damn.
