"it's my birthday and the band is from Australia"
Former Los Angeles based Gabriel Delicious has released his very first release after relocating to Melbourne, Australia. It is called Birthday and is the first peek of his upcoming sophomore full length, "All The Tricks In The Book", dropping this October (2020). I have had the pleasure of reporting on Gabriel's well crafted songs and "Birthday" does, indeed, use his many sonic tricks as it were, from catchy machine beats to deliciously glam soaked double leads as well as pushing airy A6(11) and Gmaj7th chords over simple power chords, a dominant fluid bass lines and, of course, his slyly wrought lyrics bathed in his art rock driven vocal aesthetic full of cheeky charm.
“Birthday” dropped on August 14, 2020, on Gabriel’s actual birthday making him a LEO.
"Leos work so hard socially that they’re usually the belle of the ball, the queen bee, the squad hero (give them that crown, they deserve it), but their demands for praise, appreciation, gratitude (for that advice you never took) and all-round admiration can get a BIT exhausting. You may need lil’ ‘time outs’ to recharge your applause vigour!"

Delicious is masking anxiety with lyrical humor and overcompensating discomfort with cheeky expression. These songs recall the playful idiosyncrasy of Thin Lizzy or Lou Reed over a loosely tucked bed of irreverent-tinged-mellow-punk.
