"“Follow Antares!” / “Follow the meteor!” / “Follow ol’ glory!” / “For King and country!” / Long live this dream. Long live this odyssey. Long live the Queen. / “Bells for the king!”
To say that 'The Fisherman' by Los Angeles based The Brontosaur feels surreal would be an understatement. The lyrics that (to me) might just be about multiple lives, via reincarnation or multi-universes or maybe just a crazy, wonderfully diverse life lived (in one's imaginative head or on the earth's soil and sea) makes for a heady ride. The sonic roller coaster that carries T.Parks impassioned vocal aesthetic has the sinewy muscle of late 70's progressive rock and maybe 90's post grunge adorations that oftentimes pulled from the 70's too.
This one story in "The Fisherman" sticks to my brain:
"When I was a cattleman, got thrown from my saddle and bit by a copperhead snake. I strapped on the oxygen, extracted the venom and kept the better part of my leg. And when the law came, I didn’t much feel like talking. And then the shots rang until no one remained."

As you can tell, the narratives are like novels or movies and the feeling is noir-ish whether the tales (maybe disguised as parables or vice versa) run deep. Sometimes the stories feel drawn in Americana dirt and at other times they run in mythical circles or in outer space.
'The Fisherman' is from the band's new album 'Reaver' (7 years in the making) which I have dipped into a bit. The other songs take you on similarly interesting rides fueled by other stories and punchy / dreamy sonics. Me thinks you need to check The Brontosaur out. Do so in a quiet place by yourself or with others but don't listen in a situation where someone might be wanting to converse with you because you will undoubtedly be hypnotized by the music so much that you will rudely ignore them.
